Position Description for Steel Detailer

Requesite Experience

Five years experience drafting with Autodesk's AutoCAD software, version 14 or later (version 2002 preferred), three years of which must be full-time experience in detailing erection and fabrication drawings of stairs, rails, and other miscellaneous/ornamental items or structural steel.

Duties

• Drafting erection and fabrication drawings of stairs, handrails, and other miscellaneous and ornamental metal items or structural steel.

• Compilation of Bills of Materials, Cut Bills, Field and Shop Bolt Lists, and other documentation as required by customers and/or Steel Dimensions, LLC.

• Visiting customer fabrication facilities as required by customers for the purpose of orientation and planning meetings.

• Visiting job-sites to complete field measurements as required by customers.

Working Conditions

• Professional office-type environment

• Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods of time while drafting will be required

• Lifting of objects over 40 lbs. may rarely be required (large rolls of contract drawings, etc.)

• Working hours are 8:00AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday, with one-hour lunch period.  Overtime, including weekend duty, may occasionally be required; overtime is usually available to those who wish to work, subject to the owner's approval.

• Smoking is not permitted in the building, reasonable smoke breaks are allowed.
